10 reviews for Seiko Men’s SNE039 Stainless Steel Solar Watch

Very nice looking watch for $80! The dial is actually a very dark grey which looks pretty nice and can pass a black for the most part. I have several Seiko watches, particularly the Seiko 5’s. The 5’s are unusually high quality for the price, but usually have cases and dials (and sometimes hands) that are a bit mis-matching in my opinion. The straps are almost always terrible as well. This watch however doesn’t have any of those problems. The case is beautifully designed and proportioned, the dials and hands match well, and the 20mm bracelet is good quality and wearable. I wonder why Seiko can’t do this with their “5” line in the same price range. Perhaps the solar movement is that much less expensive to produce than the automatic 7s26, or maybe they realize that they’d cut into their higher priced markets too much if the $60-$90 Seiko 5’s were too good. The only slight negative I found is I think the inside of curve of the watch should be brushed and the outside polished – currently it’s reversed and the transition from the polished inside curve of the lugs to the brushed bracelet is kind of odd. It’s no problem if you use a leather strap though. This watch is more of a dress watch in the sense that it would fit a button up shirt, a polo, or office clothes better, and maybe not so much with casual wear like a t-shirt, jeans, or shorts.

I am working towards getting the Rolex Explorer and need a similar watch to tie me over. After wearing this one for two weeks, I no longer want to spend $6500 on the Rolex! This has the same classic look, that is good for dress or csual: stainless body w/ black face, but for only $80! And, best of all, it’s a quality brand, when people see “Seiko” they assume its at least a few hundred or a couple thousand. I can’t stand seeing people wear like Nixon, MVMT, Dept Store brands, etc. because it is clear how much they are worth. This price of this Seiko is a bit more obscure and mysterious. Anyways, functionality is great! It even has LUME!!!! And the glow truly lasts into past 3am. Finally, the solar feature is another benefit, as watch batteries tend to die after a couple years. My only gripe is I wish the band had a little more adjustment. For my wrist, I had to have an uneven number of links on each side, rather that having equal links, and using a micro adjustment in the clasp like a rolex. But thats a minor thing. Buy this watch!!!

I’ve owned some pretty nice watches in the past, such as Longines, Tag Heuer, Grand Seiko, and Hamilton, among others…and I recently sold all of them and bought this one watch to replace them all. I just woke up one day and realized that there’s more to life than collecting watches and there’s really no reason to have anything nicer than this watch. There really isn’t much to dislike about this watch. It’s a handsome, basic dress/casual watch that could look okay with a suit or a t-shirt. In essence, it’s just a basic watch that will go with most anything. It has foldover end links, and the band is a little rattly, but it’s very nice for the price and worlds above a similarly priced Seiko 5. The dial has a sunburst pattern that reflects a lot of light, and the markers are very reflective as well. From ten feet away, it looks a lot like a Grand Seiko. The case is a classically sized 37mm, which bucks the current trend of huge fashion watches, so it shouldn’t go out of style (although it’s not really in style, either). This is a watch that you could wear everyday for the next 10 years and it won’t look dated. Sure, some might call this a datejust knockoff, but it’s been over 50 years, and datejusts don’t really look dated either…Very nice for the money.

First watch I have bought in more than 30 years, Ive always wanted a Seiko and I couldnt be more satisfied with this high quality Japanese made watch. Feels very comfortable, was very easy to shorten the band (many youtube how to videos) and worked straight out of the box, keeps perfect time. As a Solar City solar panel customer I am very proud to show off my SOLAR watch!

Seiko does it again with this clean and formal looking watch. The SNE039 isn’t a watch that is made to impress people or draw ones towards your wrist, its simply a nice looking, well made timepiece that has all the basic functions included. This watch has a nice stainless steel band with a small amount of polish accents in between each link, the face of the watch has a nice polished bezel with a stainless case. I like the minimal use of polished surfaces as this means this watch will look good years from now when its worn. The Quartz movement is 100% Seiko, which is why I love Seiko in the first place. Seiko makes everything in house which is rare these days. The movement is powered by a rechargeable battery which will hopefully last the life of the watch, being a Solar powered watch is kinda cool at least for me, just a neat little tech add-on that’s cool to have. As for it main function its accurate as can be. I mean its a Quartz movement so what more do you want? The size of this watch is what I would call “normal”. Its not one of those overgrown watches that screams “look at me I need attention”. Its big enough to be easily read without being annoying. The band on this watch also has a nice design that doesn’t grab at the hair on my arm.Reading the time, day and date are very easy with this watch as everything is easily readable, The hands and all hour markings glow in the dark and are very easy to read, however the second hand can’t be read at night.Overall its easy to see why this watch sells so well. Its very good looking, has a solid Seiko Movement, its solar powered and it has all the basic features you’d want in a watch. The only down side is this watch isn’t “water proof” its only water resistant so it can only handle splashes of water. But other then that I would buy one of these watches again if I had to.

If you are looking for a nice casual watch, or even maybe a dress watch, this is the way to go. I have been looking for a while at many different brands and types. This watch stood out to me for being high quality with an affordable price. Only downside is that when you first get it you have to charge it up by putting it in the sunlight or under a light. But you should expect this since it is a solar watch. Extremely pleased with this product, I look at it all the time when it is on my wrist because I can not stop looking at how good it looks.

I’ve had a Caravelle for more than a decade and the bracelet needed replacement. It was a $100 watch and I didn’t wan’t to spend $40 on a new bracelet so I decided to get this Seiko watch instead. I am extremely pleased of my purchase. I wasn’t sure about the solar charging but it’s been entirely uneventful. I put the watch on a few months ago and never looked back. I do wear my watch all the time except when I shower so the watch gets the light by simply wearing it normally. Love it and would recommend.

    Go Seahawks!

This is my second Seiko of the same style. The first one lasted over 5 years of daily use and had to be replaced when the day feature stopped working. It is a good watch for formal and informal events. Consider buying the product to use for adjusting the links unless you know somebody at a local jewelry store. It was very easy to remove some links when you are using the right tool.

This watch has classic styling, excellent quality and feel, and the trusted Seiko name. At $85 the price can’t be beat for a great watch. I gave four stars for scratch resistance because the bracelet will scratch – it is inevitable. Perhaps someone can make their millions by making a bracelet guard.I really like this watch, and you won’t be disappointed if you get it.

First 30 days – works with as perfect accuracy as I can imagine. Left it in drawer over holiday for 5+ days and it lost zero time. I have only charged it in ambient inside (incandescent or LED) lighting. Band will need almost one link removed for best fit for my 7 1/2 inch (19cm) wrist. Adjustment but will take special care and special tool or a friendly watchmaker. But I would rather it be too loose than too tight. Links are 10mm wide. There’s a little 2.1mm pin adjustment on the clasp itself already set at max. The Stainless Steel
