High Sierra's All-Metal Beautiful Shower Heads

1.5 GPM

For those wanting to maximize water and energy savings without having to sacrifice performance. Consistently rated as equal or better than 2.5 GPM conventional shower heads. Our #1 selling flow rate.

1.8 GPM

Uses a little more water than the 1.5 GPM models but produces even larger droplets. Superior rinsing capability makes this flow rate ideal for those with extremely thick hair. Especially recommended for shower arms over 6.5′.

2.0 GPM

Uses more water than both of our other flow rates but is still considered a water conservation shower head. The exceptionally large and heavy droplets are reminiscent of shower head performance predating government mandates.

Especially recommended for shower arms over 6.5′ or ceiling mounts.

How it started

David Malcolm (Owner/Founder) has been designing and manufacturing high-efficiency nozzles for agricultural and golf course sprinkler irrigation for the past 30 years. The result of Malcolm’s newest experiment was a nozzle that mechanically explodes a low-pressure stream of water into a controlled shower of large, high-energy droplets that are uniform in size and distribution. Malcolm saw the tremendous potential this new nozzle technology had and in 2010 High Sierra Showerheads was born.

10 reviews for High Sierra’s All Metal 1.5 GPM High Efficiency Low Flow Shower head

Best low flow shower head ever. We have just replaced a 1950’s shower head in our home. We were very reluctant to because it had always given a great shower, although short due to the water heater not being able to keep up with the water demand. We recently decided to replace it, with me kicking and screaming of course. I already have a low flow in our other bath. I hate it. Takes years to get soap out of my hair. Doesn’t seem like a water saving feature when it takes 20 minutes just to rinse out your hair. If I was going to replace a great 1950’s shower head, I wasn’t going to be left with yet another wimpy shower. So, if I was going to have to replace my precious shower head, I was going to do some homework. After I searched around on the web, I came across a few High Sierra reviews and a video of the shower head actually working. I was sceptical, but what does it hurt to try it out? I could always put the old one back on. After we had received this in the mail, I opened the package and laughed because it was such a tiny water head. I was still sceptical. Anyways, long story short, I hooked it up using the simple instructions. Turned on the water and was immediately shocked. I’m in love. 10/10 would buy again. In fact, we will in the very near future to get rid of the wimpy, already low flow in the spare bath. I put the 1950’s shower head in the basement just in case there is an issue, but I doubt there will be. Thank you so much for your great product!!!!!

Ordered and it shipped fast…I loved the no frills low waste but quality and durable packaging. The shower head itself was in a thick but small tightly wrapped plastic , that was out into a very durable thick plastic bag that also had the very nice information card inside it . On the back it has the HAND WRITTEN name and date of the person who did the quality control inspection. Super nice touch. The date matches the order time.. so they are not just mass printed fake inspection signatures. The shower head has a super smooth motion at the ball joint. The machining and surface finish is really nice.. super smooth. Just feels like such a quality piece of work. The spray pattern is really nice… It feels like one of the old huge consumption shower heads.. the droplets are nice and big..Powerful spray.. almost stingy.. but not quite..Really really nice shower experience..And made in the USA.. that’s super nice to see also.Good job on a quality product..

It looks like a minimalist thing, and it is.I replaced a 2.5gpm head with this. The 2.5gpm head was, well, weak. I figured I’d try this, and if I thought it bit the big one, send it back. It ain’t going back. The only complaint you could reasonably lodge with it is that the water pressure is high enough that there’s some splash, and if your shower walls do not go up high enough you might do some damage to the wall above the shower from spray.I like it; it delivers a satisfying shower both to the head/hair and body. It’s not a “Rain” shower; if you’re expecting that in a low-flow head forget it; you can’t have both at once. But it produces a wide enough cone, and enough pressure, to be thoroughly satisfying. It is dramatically better, in my opinion, than the weak flow-constrained “rain-style” showerheads out there. There’s nothing to clog or break; it’s a solid piece of metal with a nice swivel so you can point it where you want it.If you pay for water and sewer charges this thing will probably pay for itself in six months or less between the water and sewer saving, plus the lower electric bill since you’re not heating as much water either.Like I said, I was skeptical but since free returns can be had, figured I’d take a shot with it. I’m keeping it.

I was desperate to reduce my water bill after getting the first full month bill of over $400 on our vacation rental property. After reading the reviews on the High Sierra 1.5 GPM version, I figured I’d take a gamble. When my wife first looked at the showerhead, she said that thing is not going in our showers (too small and bland). I decided to take a risk and install it (which took no more than 5 minutes to remove the old one and install this model) to see what the spray coverage was like. I immediately thought they must have sent me a regular 2.5 GPM version as the spray coverage was so superior to our old 2.5 version I couldn’t believe it was just 1.5GPM. My wife, after taking a shower, asked me how much money would we save if we used these showerheads (a very good sign). After explaining that the shower water usage would be reduced by 40% (plus the reduced electricity cost for heating less water) she decided she liked them. I have installed them in all four showers and I’m looking forward to seeing the reduction in my water billing!

I have typically lived in houses that were fed with a well and as such I paid no mind to water usage. I would always dig out the water savers in whatever shower head that I was using to get maximum flow. Now it wasn’t like I liked wasting water, I just liked a good shower and your bog standard 2.5 gpm shower heads do not make for a good shower. However, I now live in a house were I have to pay a monthly water bill and as such I want to keep the bill reasonable. I tried the 1.5 and the 1.8 gpm high sierra shower heads and while I liked both of them the 1.8 has that little bit of extra oomph that really makes for a nice shower. Overall I’m pleased enough with these that I no longer miss the old water waster heads.

I don’t generally write reviews of products but this shower head is outstanding! I agonized over buying this shower head to be honest. We had a nice handheld one but it was 2.5GPM, and water is really expensive where we live. So I broke down and bought this water saver. What I was worried about was that the water would come out way to slow and the soap would never get out of our hair… daughter and I both have crazy thick and curly hair. Well we received this little beauty and turned it on and while the water does come out different it came out with plenty of force to wash our hair fine. I can’t believe actually that it comes out one entire gallon less then my old one because it sure doesn’t seem like it. The next thing I want to point out is that the way that the shower head is on a swivel ball mean you can really really move it around which makes it really slick to clean your shower. I was playing with it and wasting water just the other day and I can almost spray over the top of the curtain towards the back of my shower enclosure. So if you are contemplating and water is horridly high like mine is give it a shot. I am sure glad that I did. <3

This thing is amazing! It works so much better than our expensive-but-worthless “Whirl Air / Rain Air” 2.5 gpm Hansgrohe shower bar, despite using only 1.5 gpm max. The pressure this thing provides is awesome (probably 3-4x what we get out of the Hansgrohe). But, even better, the droplets don’t come out in a fixed array of lines — it’s turbulent and the droplets are constantly hitting everything in the cone of water. That means that you don’t have to move around to rinse soap off — you can just stand still and it’s constantly hitting every square millimeter of your skin. It’s also sturdy, well-made, and beautiful. I’m beyond impressed. The only drawback I can see is that it’s a bit louder than our shower bar, but it’s so spectacular in every other way that I could care less.

I once, long ago had a very small, very high pressure water-saving shower head that I really loved. Cost a whole $10 from the local hardware store, and was labeled as coming from Europe. Ever since, I’ve been hoping to find another like it, without success, until I ordered this showhead. No, it’s not the same company, and works a bit differently, but it has the same essential small size, high pressure and good distribution of water, while using less water than most other showheads labeled as water-saving.My wife wishes I’d paid the extra to get the version with the shutoff valve, but I take really short showers, so having that feature doesn’t matter for me. I would, however, add it if buying again.Note: There is also an older 1.5GPM version of this at the same price, but I figure this newer version uses a bit more water because it needs to for happy customers, and chose accordingly, with no regrets.Highly recommended!

Our master bath shower is on the top floor of our townhouse. Before we moved in, the home inspector even suggested we may need a supplemental pump to increase the water pressure for the shower. The developer had installed a broad 2.5 GPM showerhead that was wimpy. We replaced it with a smaller coverage 2.5 GPM showerhead that delivered a bit more shower pressure, and later we replaced that with a 1.5 GPM temperature-sensing showerhead that was somewhat acceptable. Then I read about the High Sierra showerhead in Wirecutter. I was skeptical, but was in need and decided to roll the dice on the 1.8 GPM model (my spouse has thick, red hair and needed a bit more power than the 1.5 GPM might provide). It took less than five minutes to install. And the result is impressive. Even on the fourth floor of the townhouse, a satisfying spray with good intensity and large drops that are a huge improvement over our older, more traditional-looking showerhead. We’ve only had it one day, but it’s a great upgrade. And it looks kind of cool and futuristic, too.

I knew the shower head was going to be good based on everything I had read, but in fact it is truly amazing. I replaced a 2.5 GPM regular shower head with the High Sierra 1.5 GPM shower head and it felt like I had doubled the water flow. In addition the way the water comes down makes for an incredibly good shower. Can’t recommended these highly enough, these shower heads truly revolutionize showering!
