Over the years, Kaito has proudly supplied millions of radios to the State Department, the United States Army, the United Nations and other government agencies and NGOs for their humanitarian relief efforts. It’s hard to believe, but often times a radio is the only way to connect with the outside world in some parts of the globe, and radio broadcasting has become an important and effective tool helping the US and its allies build strong relationship with the locals and educate them to stand up against conflicts and extremism, which in return makes our troops and diplomats safer and more successful in their missions.

What is RDS?

Radio Data System, or RDS, is a communications protocol standard for embedding amounts of digital information in conventional FM radio broadcasts. RDS standardizes several types of information transmitted, including time, station identification & program information.

What is NOAA Alert?

Connected to the Emergency Alert System (EAS) through NWR (National Weather Radio) network provided by NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association), this feature will automatically activate the radio to inform you of any hazardous weather conditions or warnings including natural, environmental and public safety while the radio is set at the “Alert” mode.

Great radio. Has every feature you could want. Crisp sound. The solar panel keeps the rechargeable battery at full charge. Weather alerts, reading lamp, several different power options make this a great emergency and everyday radio.

I bought this as a Christmas gift. Sadly it was shipping with the label stuck to the box. So easy to see what it was. He immediately opened the box and started setting it the way he wanted. He was totally thrilled with the radio.

The Kaito Voyager KA600 is a great addition to your standby emergency backup supplies, for use in a power outage, or for taking with you on a camping trip, an outdoor cookout, when sunbathing, and on and on. I am amazed at the sound quality although it’s not stereo (has only one speaker). Sounds better than my large tabletop radio, which sounds pretty good. Also the digital radio frequency dial allows precise tuning to the station of choice, including multiple weather-bands, and shortwave signals. The options for use during a power outage are useful and appropriate. E.g., the dynamo crank battery charger for adding more useful power and time to its internal rechargeable batteries, the solar panel provides similar “recharge” capability, not only for refilling the recharge batteries, but simply to operate the radio. You can add even more functionality by inserting another power source – regular AA batteries. (The AA’s are optional but make for quick and easy listening when needed.)For clarification, there are 3 built-in internal rechargeable Ni-MH batteries, not removable, which collect the power provided by the crank or the solar panel. The optional, removable, and easily inserted standard AA batteries (not included) are for situations when there’s no solar input, or you simply prefer not using the crank handle.

I got this unit for several reasons: emergency use, of course; camping trips; and plays. Yes, plays. Our favorite theater has ceased having performances indoors, but, instead, they leased an old drive-in theater where they have the play on a stage down front and also project it on the big screen. The old sound boxes are gone, of course, but the theater broadcasts the sound over a local radio frequency. So, my wife and I set up our lawn chairs in front of our car; tuned in the Kaito Voyager Pro KA600; used a Y-jack to plug both our headphones into the headphone jack on the unit; tuned in and pulled out the snacks; and we were good to go. Worked out perfectly. Sound was really good and the built-in light came in handy. So far, we are very satisfied. I noticed that, by using the crank, I can pretty much avoid using batteries at all. Would recommend this unit.

Lightweight multifunction radio with am/fm/sw and NOAA radio. Volume control is good. You can crank it up to provide power during an electrical outtage, solar panel, reading and flash light. It comes with the extended antenna wire for short wave, no need to buy it separately.

I really love my radio Kaito Voyager Pro KA600. I spent 4 days in shelter during the hurricane season. Out of electricty and not knowing nothing about the outdoor, this is the moment I was thinking about a small radio like Kaito. Something small I can just slip in my bag. Someonething good, efficient and reliable. Wow! I’m so happy to have the radio and so many features reaching my expectations: Cranck, solar, DC/AC, flash, light. I feel complete. The price is awesome.

This product is durable and has good fit and finish. It has all the features. More than I needed but I bought it as a present. It came with the ac plug which is a $10.00 add on with other models. Works as advertised. I may get my self one.
